The crime of enforced disappearance continues against:
▪️ Musab Mahmoud Abdel Hakim (31 years old), a student at the Faculty of Commerce – Cairo University, who works alongside his studies in a shop owned by his father selling and maintaining computer devices.
▪️ Abdullah Hanfi Abdel Hakim (33 years old), a father of an infant daughter who was only a few months old at the time of his arrest, and who worked on his father's farm.
This has been ongoing since the dawn of January 28, 2019, following the arbitrary arrest by Egyptian security forces, according to consistent eyewitness testimonies, as part of a campaign of arrests that targeted six members of the same family.
The family has taken all available legal measures and submitted official complaints to the relevant authorities regarding the ongoing enforced disappearance, and has repeatedly appealed to the competent authorities to reveal the fate of their relatives; however, all these efforts have been met with complete silence without any response or actual action, despite the existence of eyewitness testimonies.
The Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights demands:
▪️ Their immediate release unconditionally if there are no legal charges against them.
▪️ Or their immediate presentation to an independent investigative body and ensuring all fair trial guarantees if there are charges.
The center emphasizes that the continued enforced disappearance constitutes a serious crime under the Egyptian constitution and the international treaties binding on Egypt, foremost among them the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention against Enforced Disappearance.
